so i decided to get in touch with my inner artistic side and came up with these postcard-like pictures associated with each blog entry. It took some time for the editing, especially when there´s no better tool than windows image editor available. But i really like the result. It allows me to show more than one picture, so i don´t have to make the tough choice to pick only ONE! :)
This place, in the Mayan highland of Chiapas, is beautiful, tranquil, but at the same time lively. It´s rated by many travelers as their favorite Mexican town. In the heart of it is a beautiful plaza, dominated by a church on one side, a few blocks away is a daily crafts markets, where we found gorgeous weaving and textiles. Those weavers are descendants of Mayan civilization and the tradition lives on to this date. They wear traditional Mayan dress and are shy of cameras. I always tried to ask for permission before taking pictures. :)
Having traveled for nearly 3 months in an average of 30-35C temperature, staying at cheap hostels most of the time, i felt exhausted. So we decided to give ourselves a break by checking into a nice (but reasonably priced) hotel for a few days. man, don´t i miss cable TV, bouncy bed, a real blanket, and shower with ¨constant¨hot water? The cool air in the high altitude is also very welcome. I am looking forward to some rest before exploring the area more and making our way to Guatemala by bus.
